Alan S. Elliot, PhD, is a dually appointed Clinical Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. He also leads the Division of Psychology as Director of Psychology at Bellevue Hospital Center, where he oversees all clinical, training and research programs conducted by psychologists throughout the departments of Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and across the hospital.
Dr. Elliot received his BS in Communications, summa cum laude, from Boston University. He holds an MA and PhD in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University. He completed his internship at NYU-Bellevue, where he subsequently was Chief Psychology Intern/Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Elliot previously served in various clinical and research capacities at the Payne Whitney Clinic of New York-Presbyterian Medical Center and Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he was Visiting Fellow of Psychology in Psychiatry. He was also Psychologist for the Adolescent AIDS Program in the Department of Pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center, and an Instructor in Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Elliot has published in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology and the Journal of Adolescent Mental Health. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Register for Health Care Providers in Psychology.
