Specialty Areas: ADHD and Behavior Disorders

Dr. Fleiss has more than twenty years of experience in diagnosing and treating children with behavioral and social issues. She is Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine She works extensively with parents and schools to insure that treatments are instituted in all settings. Dr. Fleiss is Clinical Director of the CSC's Long Island Campus, and Co-Director of our Summer Program for Kids (SPK), the only specialized therapeutic day program for children with ADHD in the New York metropolitan area.. Dr. Fleiss was the lead research clinician on the MTA, a national study that looked at the best treatments for children with ADHD.

Dr. Fleiss earned her Psy.D. and her M.A. from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University.

Dr. Karen Fleiss, co-director of the New York University Summer Program for Kids, was quoted by WebMD (PDF) in an article about summer vacation for children with ADHD. Dr. Fleiss offered that in addition to making sure your child has a structured schedule throughout the break, it is also important to include some kind of academic activity throughout the summer—even if that just means reading with your child for 20 minutes throughout the day.
