
Lorraine Lothringer, M.D. is Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident at the NYU Child Study Center. Dr. Lothringer specializes in the study of sexuality, gender, and HIV/AIDS psychiatry. Her current research and clinical interests include gender variance in childhood, access to mental health services for LGBT youth in need, working with populations affected by HIV/AIDS, and psychoanalysis.
Dr. Lothringer received her B.A. in biology from Barnard College and her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her post-graduate training in general psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University Medical Center and New York State Psychiatric Institute.
Dr. Lothringer was awarded the 2008-2010 American Psychiatric Association / Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Fellowship. As a fellow, she served on the American Psychiatric Association’s Committee on HIV/AIDS as well as its Council on Research and Quality Care. She is currently a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
