Olivia  Carrick, M.D.

Olivia Carrick, M.D. is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident at the NYU Child Study Center. Her interests include global health, public psychiatry and substance abuse.

Dr. Carrick received her B.A. in biological sciences from Smith College and her M.D. from West Virginia University School of Medicine in her hometown of Morgantown, W.Va. She completed her general psychiatry residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Prior to her residency, Dr. Carrick helped provide both physical and mental health care to underserved communities in various rural areas in West Virginia, as well as in Chimbote, Peru. She was a leader of her medical school’s chapter of Physicians for Human Rights and organized several events to raise awareness about issues related to global health. She dedicated time in medical school to research at the West Virginia University Center for Advanced Imaging and is the co-author of two published papers from her work there.

Dr. Carrick was the recipient of several awards in medical school, including the EJ Van Liere Summer Research Fellowship, Imelda Deegan Stevenson Scholarship for Academic Achievement and the West Virginia University International Elective Scholarship. She also received the Terry & Francis Seelinger Scholarship for demonstration of entrepreneurial abilities, which acknowledged her co-ownership of two restaurants during her time in medical school. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Association of Women Psychiatrists.
