
Suzanne M.L. Colin, Ph.D., is Clinical Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine, Co-Director of Child and Adolescent Psychology Externship Program and Senior and Supervising Psychologist, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital Center. Dr. Colin's major clinical and research interests are in development and neurobehavioral research from fetal period to adolescence, child and adolescent psychopathology, psychotherapies, maternal and child health, and parenting. Dr. Colin has the EPPP by the University of the State of New York.
Dr. Colin received her Ph.D. Summa Cum Laude in Psychology from Barcelona University (Spain) and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology by the Autonoma University of Barcelona.
She completed a minor specialization in developmental psychology as Visiting Fellow of Psychology in Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where she earned a certificate in Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale (BNBAS) at the Child Development Unit, department of Pediatrics; a certificate in Assessment Older & Infant Behavior, at the Neurobehavioral Infant & Child Studies, Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; and a certificate in NICU Network Neurobehavioral Scale (NNNS) at the Infant Development Unit, Brown University School of Medicine. Dr. Colin participated in various clinical and research activities along with both teams for more than seven years. She has received a diploma in Medical Hypnosis by the International Institute of New York at Barcelona. Dr. Colin had fellowships at the Instituto Geriatrico Municipal of Barcelona, Instituto Dexeus- Autonoma University of Barcelona, and at the Hospital Valle Hebron- Autonoma University of Barcelona.
Prior to joining NYU and Bellevue Hospital Center, Dr. Colin was Coordinator-Director of the Psychology Unit at the Hospital Niño Dios in Barcelona. She has been in her own private practice for the last twenty-four years. She was a consultant at several Spanish and French schools at Barcelona. In 1996, Dr. Colin was honored by H.M. The Queen of Spain to be organizer and co-chair, along with the Barcelona University, of the II Symposium Internacional de Stress y Violencia en la Infancia y Juventud at the Congress Palace in Barcelona, under the assistance and Honor Chair of H.M. The Queen of Spain.
At the same time, Dr. Colin was Co-Director of the post-graduate program in perinatal psychology at Barcelona University. Dr. Colin has been faculty member for summer programs at the Complutense University of Madrid and at the Instituto Nacional Educacion Fisica (INEF) of Barcelona.
Dr. Colin has authored a number of papers and books in psychology, and translated books from French to Spanish. In addition she has given more than 60 lectures throughout Europe and the United States. Dr. Colin is also member of a number of international professional societies, including American Psychological Association, Claustro de Doctores of Barcelona University, Sociedad Catalana de Neuropsicologia, Sociedad Española de Medicina Psicosomatica. Now, she is the President of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals and, from 2006 to 2008, she was a chair of the education and research committee of the association. Dr. Colin has been interviewed on different Spanish and U.S. television shows and radio programs.
