
Courtney Weiner is a Clinical Psychology Intern at the NYU Child Study Center. Ms. Weiner specializes in the assessment and treatment of child anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders. She has a research interest and specialized training in the treatment of children with co-occurring anxiety and sleep difficulties. Ms. Weiner’s dissertation was on sleep-related problems among children and adolescents with anxiety disorders.
Ms. Weiner received her B.S. in business and marketing, Summa Cum Laude, from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. She completed a post-baccalaureate program in psychology at Harvard University and is a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology at Boston University, graduating in June 2012.
Prior to beginning her internship at the NYU Child Study Center, Ms. Weiner worked as a clinician providing group and individual therapy at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders of Boston University and McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachussetts. She has worked in both outpatient and partial day hospitalization settings with young children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to treatment, she also has advanced training in psychological assessment and intellectual evaluation, neuropsychological assessment, structured family interviews, and general psychological assessment.
Ms. Weiner has a special interest in disseminating information about best practices in the assessment and treatment of childhood anxiety to the community. She has provided several workshops and trainings for school staff, parents, and other mental health service providers. She has presented her research at professional conferences, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the American Public Health Association Ms. Weiner’s research has been published in Child & Family Behavior Therapy, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Behavioral Health Services and Research, and Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
