Megha  Tailor, B.A., M.A.

Megha Tailor, B.A., M.A., is a Clinical Psychology Intern at the NYU Child Study Center. Ms. Tailor specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults exhibiting externalizing problems such as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. She has particular interest in providing community based care to diverse youth and families from underserved and vulnerable communities.

Ms. Tailor's research interest lies in understanding the impact of stress on the psychological well-being of low-income urban youth. Her dissertation focuses on examining individual, family, and community-based factors which protect highly stressed youth from mental health problems. In particular, she is interested in understanding whether a match between the type of stressors and protective factors is necessary to promote positive outcomes.

Ms. Tailor received her bachelor's degree in psychology cum laude from San Jose State University. She also minored in atypical child studies. She is a Ph.D. candidate in clinical community psychology at DePaul University, graduating June 2012.

Prior to beginning her internship at the CSC, Ms. Tailor worked as a therapist providing diagnostic evaluations, consultation, individual and group therapy for children and adolescents in a psychiatry outpatient clinic, a school-based health center, a pediatric inpatient unit, and a medical outpatient clinic at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL. She also provided individual and family therapy, case management, assessment, parent training (i.e. PCIT), school-based violence prevention training, and teacher training (i.e. TCIT) at the DePaul Family and Community Services in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Tailor has presented her research at professional conferences, including those hosted by the Society for Prevention Research, the Midwestern Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Association. Her work has been published in Educational Gerontology.
