Elizabeth Mullett, Ph.D.

Elizabeth Mullett, Ph.D., is the Director of Research for the School-Based Intervention Program and Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Mullett is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of school-based intervention programs designed to increase coping skills and foster resiliency in students who have been affected by traumas such as the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. In addition, she provides consultation and training to staff members at schools located near the World Trade Center.

Dr. Mullett received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Mullett completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland Center for School Mental Health Assistance.

Dr. Mullett is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the International Association for Mental Health and the Schools and the New York State Psychological Association. She is an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Behavioral Medicine, the Journal of Youth and Adolescence and the International Journal of School-Based Mental Health. Dr. Mullett has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Divorce and Remarriage, the International Journal of Mental Health Promotion and Behavior Modification.

Prior to joining the faculty at the NYU Child Study Center, Dr. Mullett was a research assistant at the Center for School Mental Health Assistance, one of two federally-funded national technical assistance centers for mental health in schools. In this role, she evaluated the efficacy of expanded school mental health programs, helped found the International Association for Mental Health and the Schools and provided consultation to schools across the country. In addition, as a school coordinator with the University of Maryland Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's School Mental Health Program, she conducted individual, family and group counseling with students in the Baltimore City School System.
