L. Oriana Linares, Ph.D.

L. Oriana Linares, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine and Director of the Foster Care & Mental Health Research Program at the Institute for Trauma and Resilience of the NYU Child Study Center. Her major research interests include effective psychosocial interventions for young children in foster care, developmental psychopathology among maltreated children and co-parenting in foster care.

Dr. Linares received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Kansas and her M.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri. She received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Yeshiva University. She completed a pre-doctoral research internship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and a research fellowship in the R25 Mentoring Program in Mental Health Services Research at the National Institute of Mental Health.

Prior to joining the faculty at NYU, Dr. Linares was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine. She also served as Director of the Child Psychology Clinic at the Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center at Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Linares serves on several National Institute of Health review panels. She is a Board Member of the New York Alliance Against Sexual Assault and of the Institutional Board of Research Associates at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Linares is an Advisory Board Member of the Institutional Review Board, Administration for Children Service for the City of New York.

The work of Dr. Linares has been published in a number of journals including the Journal of Communicative Disorders, the Journal of Research on Adolescence and the Journal of Clinical Child Psychology.
