This series of free professional development seminars provide school-based practitioners updates on recent advances in children's mental health. The goal of the series is to provide practical information that will promote the school functioning of students who may have emotional, behavioral, and situational barriers to learning.
The seminars are designed to help professionals of all disciplines develop a common framework for understanding and addressing some of the major challenges to student well-being and adjustment. We encourage schools to invite all instructional, student support, health, and related services staff to these monthly seminars.
Each presentation pairs a mental health professional specializing in the topic area with an educator with related experience. Each presentation includes a review of best-practice guidelines for the school setting. Special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches using "real-life" cases to highlight key issues.
