The use of medication has become an increasingly important and sometimes critical component of treating many childhood psychiatric disorders. For some conditions, medication can provide major relief of problematic symptoms. Our child and adolescent psychiatrists have special expertise in matching the right medication with an accurate diagnosis.

Our Clinical Services

The NYU Child Study Center's Psychopharmacology Service is comprised of a group of gifted faculty and senior residents who are specialists in medication treatments. Our clinicians, all members of the NYU Langone Medical Center faculty, have a wealth of experience and knowledge, are nationally recognized as experts in the field as noted in NY Magazine Best Doctors and often lecture to other professionals on relevant issues. They have a warm, caring approach towards patients and families and collaborate closely with pediatricians, neurologists, parents, schools and therapists. Many of our psychopharmacologists have a subspecialty focus. Under the direction of Glenn S. Hirsch, M.D., our child and adolescent psychiatrists are available for diagnostic evaluations, second opinions on the use of particular medications and for the ongoing treatment of children, adolescents and young adults with complex psychiatric disorders.
