Child and Family Associates

As Medical Director, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Child Study Center and our clinical arm, Child and Family Associates.

Not only do our world-class clinicians truly care about children, they are trained in the latest and the most advanced treatment and diagnostic techniques. When a family seeks treatment here, we perform a comprehensive evaluation that takes into account a child's emotional, behavioral, developmental, and academic lives and any difficulties he or she may experience. To do this, we gather input from the child, his/her family, teachers, and previous therapists and physicians when appropriate, giving a full picture of the child as an individual, rather than a collection of symptoms.

A multi-disciplinary team works with the clinician to develop a treatment plan tailored to the specific needs of the child and family. Our faculty has expertise a full range of treatments that have been demonstrated to be effective through research. These include family and couples therapy, behavioral therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), group therapy, educational remediation, and medication therapy. We have a broad range of specialized programs that address specific disorders.

Through our advanced training program, which is one of the most competitive in the world, senior residents in child and adolescent psychiatry and Post-Doctoral Fellows in psychology also provide treatment. These talented professionals all have advanced degrees and are gaining additional specialized training in child and adolescent mental health. Trainees are carefully supervised by our full-time faculty, enabling us to provide treatment at reduced fees for those in need, without compromising quality of care.

I invite you to contact us to find out which of the Child Study Center's programs and clinicians are best suited to the needs of your child, adolescent or young adult. Our intake staff can be reached at (212) 263-8916 or services@AboutOurKids.org. You can also contact one of our clinicians directly. For services at our Long Island office, please call 516-358-1808. In the spring we expect to open an additional office in Bergen County, N.J.

We will work closely with you to make sure that the process -from the first contact through the evaluation and treatment - is smooth and comfortable. Thank you for visiting www.AboutOurKids.org and considering treatment at the Child Study Center.

I look forward to greeting you when you come to our Center.
