Giving Children Back Their Childhood: The Ninth Annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner

The Ninth Annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner was held on Monday, December 4 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Led by CSC Board members and Dinner Chairs Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn and Gary Cohn, this year's dinner honored Fiona and Stanley Druckenmiller for the remarkable dedication they have shown to the welfare of children. Oscar-nominated director Nathaniel Kahn presented a short film, Childhood: Lost and Found, created especially for this event that shows the impact Child Study Center clinicians have had on their patients.

Honorees—Fiona and Stanley F. Druckenmiller
Stanley F. Druckenmiller, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Duquesne Capital Management, L.L.C., is widely regarded as one of the preeminent money managers in the world. Along with his wife Fiona, a spiritual counselor at Eleven-Eleven Wellness Center and a former portfolio manager for The Dreyfus Corporation, Stan is deeply committed to organizations and programs that foster the success and well-being of New York's children. Fiona currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Spence School, is a trustee of the NYU School of Medicine, the Carnegie Corporation and the American Museum of Natural History, and is dedicated to global human rights. Stan is Chairman of the Board of The Harlem Children's Zone and serves on the Boards of The Children's Scholarship Fund and Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Dinner Chairs—Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn and Gary D. Cohn
Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn and Gary D. Cohn have served on the Board of Directors for the NYU Child Study Center since 1999. Gary is President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs and is a member of the firm's Board of Directors. A graduate of American University, where he also serves as a trustee, he and his wife Lisa, an artist and alumnus of the Rhode Island School of Design, are involved with a number of charitable organizations that focus on the education, health and welfare of children. Lisa is a trustee of Planned Parenthood New York City and the Drawing Center, and Gary serves on the Boards of The Harlem Children's Zone, Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School and the NYU School of Medicine.

The Child Advocacy Award Dinner is an important Center tradition that raises awareness of our mission to use scientific research to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of child psychiatric disorders, and provides critical support for the Center's core research, clinical, outreach, and training programs.
