The Tenth Annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner was held on Tuesday, December 4 at Cipriani 42nd Street. Led by CSC Board members Michael Recanati and Ira Statfeld, this year’s dinner honored Brooke Garber Neidich, the founding chair of the NYU Child Study Center. The Child Advocacy Award was presented by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the first recipient of the Award, and the evening’s program was hosted by Katie Couric. Oscar-nominated director Nathaniel Kahn presented two short films, The First Ten Years and Harold and the Boys, created especially for this event.

Honoree – Brooke Garber Niedich

Brooke Garber Neidich co-founded the New York University Child Study Center in 1997 and has served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the past ten years. Through Brooke’s vision, passion and unending hard work, the NYU Child Study Center is now recognized as the premier center in the nation for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric and learning disorders. Known for her work as a tireless philanthropist, Brooke also serves on the boards of New York University, the NYU Medical Center, the Chapin School, Lincoln Center Theatre and the Whitney Museum of Art. In 1999, Brooke received the United Hospital Fund’s Distinguished Community Service Award for her role in the founding of the NYU Child Study Center. In 2002, she received the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry “Catcher in the Rye” Humanitarian Award. Brooke is married to Daniel M. Neidich, Chairman and Co-CEO of Dune Capital Management LP. Brooke and Dan are the proud parents of Jon, Stephen and Mallory.

The First Ten Years
Nathaniel Kahn, the Academy Award nominated director of My Architect in 2004 and Two Hands: The Leon Fleisher Story in 2006, produced this film in partnership with the New York University Child Study Center, marking the 10th Anniversary of the Child Study Center. This film made it's debut at the 10th Annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner on December 4, 2007.
