Rationale:
The Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requires that all housestaff programs monitor residents for signs of stress. It is common knowledge that residency is an extremely stressful period for young physicians and some studies have shown that up to 20% of first year residents suffer from depression at some point.
NYU has approximately 1,100 housestaff at our three main hospital training sites: NYU Hospitals Center, Bellevue Hospital Center and the Manhattan VA Hospital.

- Referrals for further treatment, if applicable, in either of the above circumstances.
- Appropriate documentation of services rendered.
- Identification and implementation of improvements, as needed, in this service delivery model in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education
- This position will not involve “fitness for duty evaluations” which will be handled separately by other psychiatrists.
Annual salary: $20,000/year
